重庆动物园地处重庆西郊，始建于1955年，占地45公顷，是国内中型规模的动物园，园内山峦绵延起伏，自然风光清新绮丽，重庆市动物园熊猫馆，有只明星大熊猫，名叫“新星”，将满30岁高龄——相当于人类120岁。据动物园专门饲养新星的饲养员张乃成介绍，新星不仅是百岁熊猫，还是目前世上产崽年龄最大的熊猫母亲。
