Langkawi名稱是取自老鷹和石頭的情景。當時在為浮羅交怡換名字時，一位大臣看見一隻巨鷹停立於一顆巨石上，遲遲不肯離去，他就問村民說這石頭的名字，村民答是Batu Kawi。馬來語里鷹是Helang，而石頭是Kawi石，就取鷹名的Lang+Kawi，得Langkawi。而後老鷹是島上的吉祥物。

 天空之桥（Skybridge），位于马来西亚的浪交怡（langkawi）群岛，建成于2004年10月，总长125米，桥形呈圆弧状，主体由钢材料构成。特别让人觉得惊讶的是，这么个又大又重的“钢架”居然只用了一根支柱来支撑，支柱高87米，被固定在山腰，然后再由8根钢缆牵引，整个桥就这样最终被“吊”在了海拔687米的高空，连接着两个山头，这肯定也是它取名天空之桥（Langkawi Sky Bridge）的缘由。

云顶云天缆车全长2.8公里，从阿娃娜站至云天缆车站。Awana Station 的高度是海拔1105米，而Sky Avenue Station 是海拔1725米。新缆车每天从早上7点至半夜，每星期7天服务。云天缆车站坐落在Sky Avenue 第4楼。

法国制造的云天缆车现是2.1米高，更胜从前的1.6米，让乘客更方便进出。新的车厢还配备了特殊的窗户和百叶窗，允许更多凉爽的山林空气透入车内，务求达到极致的高空飞行体验。普通Gondola缆车将可容纳10名乘客，单程只需RM8而Glass Floor Gondola可容纳6名乘客单程需RM25。缆车的速度是每秒6米。一共有99辆Gondolas缆车，其中10辆是玻璃地板的。

乘坐新云天缆车登上云顶世界的途中尽情享受清新怡人的山间空气。只需12分钟即能从阿娃娜站抵达终点云天站(Sky Avenue)。

大寶森節是印度淡米爾人的重要節日，奉獻給戰神。通常在陽曆一月到二月間舉行慶祝。隨著印度人在全球的散居，現今馬來西亞、新加坡、南非、斯里蘭卡等淡米爾社群也都同樣慶祝。大寶森節的慶祝方式，總共是兩天，人們以黃色、橘色的花為穆魯甘獻祭，並且也身穿同樣色系的衣服,不論老少、穿印度服飾紗麗或牛仔褲，或扛卡瓦迪，他們只有一個目標，即祈求姆魯甘神的保祐、求懺悔，以及恢復精神自由。著名的據點是在馬來西亞的黑風洞。在大寶森節慶祝其間，信徒會準備一個載有穆魯甘神像的戰車，從吉隆坡步行而來，並且肩負著枷行爬上272層階梯到達山頂的穆魯甘廟，過程中也有行進的樂隊，並且大家會一面喊著“矛、矛、矛”，整個過程長達7或8個小時。
據說由於矛枷行的方式太怵目驚心，大寶森節曾經在印度本土被禁止一段時間，1930年後才慢慢由移居的社群將這些宗教節慶在本土復興。
